Midwest City Parks, Recreation, and Trails Master Plan

Project Overview

The City of Midwest City is creating a Recreation, Parks, and Trails Master Plan to guide future improvements and investments across the park system. After completing an inventory of each park and facility, the project team is now gathering community feedback to better understand how parks are used and what residents want to see in the future.

Input from this phase will help identify priorities, evaluate park needs, and highlight underserved areas and populations. The goal is to ensure the master plan reflects community voices and supports equitable access to parks, recreation, and trails for everyone.

Inventory

During the inventory phase, our teams visited each park to systematically collect data regarding the current condition of the Midwest City park system.

Analysis

During the analysis phase, information gathered from site visits as well as input from community members and stakeholders will be compiled. This data will be utilized to systematically evaluate and assign scores to the condition of each park.

Needs and Priorities Assessment

During the needs and priorities assessment we will examine the score and feedback from each park to evaluate what improvements are needed and what parks have the most need for improvement.

Community and Stakeholder Engagement

As part of our community and stakeholder engagement initiative, we are seeking input from residents regarding the Midwest City parks, recreation, and trail system.
This website and accompanying survey serve as integral components of the engagement process. In addition, multiple in-person events will be organized, with details and dates posted on this website.

Strategic Plan

The strategic planning phase for the Midwest City Parks, Recreation, and Trails Master Plan includes several key steps. It begins with a Visioning and Implementation Workshop, where stakeholders collaborate to outline goals and priorities. Next, the Strategic Plan is developed, detailing actionable steps for improvement. The plan is then presented to the City Council for review and feedback, resulting in the release of the Final Master Plan Report that guides future enhancements to the parks, recreation, and trail system.
