Overview
The City of Manassas Park is committed to ensuring our streets and sidewalks are safe and comfortable for all members of the community. We recognize that reaching your destination, safely, is a fundamental right.
Manassas Park is launching a Vision Zero Action Plan with a simple mission: zero deaths, zero serious injuries on our City's transportation network. This plan is being developed in partnership with Prince William County and funded by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Program.
Our Objectives:
- Eliminate all transportation deaths and serious injuries
- Improve safety for all road users, including pedestrians, bicyclists, motorists, scooter users, and public transportation users, by improving transportation policy and design
- Recognize and correct the unfair impacts of traffic crashes on vulnerable road users and historically disadvantaged communities
- Collaborate with neighboring communities, transportation agencies, advocates, and community stakeholders to create a culture of safety
Our Approach:
If zero is our goal, a Safe System is how we will get there. Manassas Park's Vision Zero Action Plan will be based on FHWA's Safe Systems Approach, and we will create layers of protection for all road users by:
- Promoting a 'Culture of Traffic Safety'
- Improving the City's transportation and safety policies
- Collaborating with residents, community organizations, and neighboring jurisdictions
- Making data-driven decisions
- Building safer streets, sidewalks, and paths
- Creating safer speeds through our neighborhoods
- Enhancing accessibility for all transportation users
