Hollister’s older adults deserve to get around safely and independently for as long as possible. This plan will use big data to study where seniors live and where they need to go—grocery stores, medical offices, the senior center, parks—and conduct field visits at key locations to identify barriers like missing sidewalks, unsafe crossings, fast-moving traffic, and a lack of resting places. The team will engage senior centers, senior living communities, HOAs, and advocacy groups through workshops, pop-up events, and door-to-door outreach. Recommendations will include targeted improvements, slow-streets options, and neighborhood best practices, all prioritized with cost estimates and a funding strategy.
